Every Friday for the last month, I spend 1.5 hours in a mindfulness meditation class. I had heard so many fabulous things about it beforehand and took so time in researching the right class. Personally, I haven’t really meditated before. Sure, I’ve done some yoga classes where you lie on your back for the last few minutes and my mind wanders but it’s only for a few minutes. I didn’t know how I would fare doing a much longer class. The truth is, I absolutely love this class. The teacher is kind, articulate and accepting. Best of all, I’ve meditated. I’m learning be present in the moment. Sure my mind wanders but I’m accepting those thoughts and guided by the teacher I am brought back to be in the moment. What resonates with me the most is the emphasis on being kind,  and compassionate to your thoughts and feelings. It may sound hokey to some but being able to acknowledge your feelings can bring you a sense of peace. At least it does for me.

The teacher of the class often shares her favourite quotes, passages, and readings with the class to better explain an idea or help emphasize something. She has this huge book, which reminds me of  an old school dictionary with its beautiful leather casing filled with pages upon pages that she has collected over the years. If you follow me on Instagram, I have shared some of my favourite quotes over the past year or so.  Many of these quotes have brought me strength on really bad days and made me smile on really good ones!  Personally, I find quotes to be great reminders and insight when I need it. They don’t’ require me to read a long book, instead a few short words, or even sentences can help change ones mindset and motivate and inspire!

Here are a few of my favourite quotes!

Did you ever have a nothing book in high school? My friends and I used to have them and we’d write down all of our favourite quotes and songs, I SO wish I still had mine. I love quotes too, there are so many great ones. My kids are sick and tired of me saying “Teamwork, makin’ the dream work.” So I’ve started quoting coach Taylor and telling them “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose”. They think I’m a dork but I can tell they like it. 😉

Great quotes. One of my favorite quote is “Enjoy the little things, for one day you will look back and realize they were the big things”
