free fun kid covid19 coronavirus

We’ve been hunkered down at home and haven’t seen anyone socially since Friday. Being at home with kids 24/7 makes for very, very, very ,very long day. Thank goodness for the internet and google searches to find things to keep my kids occupied.

Below you will be able to find some free fun for your kids to do at home during the Covid-19 pandemic.

*If there is a site or Instagram account that your kids have loved please let me know!

A free program geared towards older kids, this free program in conjunction with Disney and Kahn Academy. Working through modules they can go behind the scenes to learn how to create a theme park of their own!

Go Noodle

Keep your kids moving and grooving while stuck at home to a variety of fun dances with GoNoodle! Check out the different channels at the bottom for a variety of options to stay active! My son loves this one and my daughter loves this one. Enjoy!

Dan Gutman does a read-aloud

Dan Gutman’s book series, My Weird School, is a huge hit in our house. His books are funny and we all enjoy reading them together. Dan is doing a read-aloud on Facebook of his book Miss Blake is a Flake! Join him next Wednesday March 18 at 2 PM EST where he will read three more chapters. He will then continue to read the book on Thursday March 19, and Friday March 20 at 2 PM EST.

View Famous Sites and Landmarks

Even though we can’t travel right now, doesn’t mean we need to stop learning and exploring famous sites and landmarks all around the world. Thanks to Google Arts and Culture there are many opportunities to “visit” these sites and landmarks without ever leaving your house!

Netflix is doing the coolest thing where you kids can watch Netflix shows with their friends at the same time and chat with each other with a Netflix Party! You’ll need Chrome for it to work right now, but its a great opportunity for everyone to stay social!

Chess.com

You can learn to play chess or play other’s on chess.com. You create your account (make sure you activate it first via email), and can invite you friends to play against you! It even saves your score so you have a rating and get paired up with similar leveled opponents.

Bake with Christina Tosi

Every day at 2 PM EST, Christina Tosi, owner of MilkBar offers free baking classes on Instagram Live. The evening before she posts a picture of the ingredients needed and keeps what you are making a surprise until you show up at 2 PM! We made the most delicious brownies last week.
