If you follow me on Instagram you will have noticed that for the past 2 weeks I have been posting pictures of me at different gyms. Let’s look at this equation a little bit closer:
Renee + gym = fun
There I said it! I have actually been enjoying working out.
Before I start talking about my current working out status, we have to look at my previous history. It can be summed up in this equation:
Renee + gym = donations
I always had good intentions of going to the gym. I really did. I even joined gyms that my friends went to in hopes that we would go together. But I would quickly loathe going and instead of me going to the gym on a regular basis, my wallet made monthly donations. So then I would stop going. Sometimes I would get a great idea to join a gym, but my husband would remind me that I’m not good at going.
Since I have finished my treatments, 2016 is about me getting into shape. Since last April I have gained a bit of weight and I don’t like it. Between the steroids I was on and my body rejecting all fruits and vegetables for months, I’m bigger than I have ever been and it makes me uncomfortable. Am I ever going to be skinny? Nope. But the goal is to be healthy! There is tons of research on recurrence rates and cancer. Everything I have read talks about getting into shape after cancer in hopes of keeping it away. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do! I’ll be making little changes over the next few months and exercise is where I decided to start. My main motivation is my kids. I have two little people who need me around for a very, very long time so I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that happens.
Just over 2 weeks ago I did a ClassPass trial. I loved it! I have done different classes. The nice thing is that I’m easing my way back into working out. I love that I can choose the variety of classes that suit me on a giving day. Want something energetic and fun? I’ll try a dance class. Want to do something more low-key? Yoga or Pilates! Want to be adventurous? Try Aerial Yoga (i still haven’t tried it but plan to). Tonight I am even trying a cheer-leading workout class! I can’t wait.
The goal is for me to workout, have fun and get into great shape! Want to meet up for a workout? Let me know!!!
If you want to try ClassPass out for a month, here’s a $20 Off link.
Disclosure: This is NOT a sponsored post. I am just sharing my LOVE of ClassPass with all my readers! Happy working out 🙂
I am in for a work out!!!
And i agree, being skinny is way over rated! Ironically, I lost weight when I started not caring any more and just working out for fun and for the feeling of being healthy …
And let me know what you think of aerial yoga! I love yoga, didn’t like aerial yoga so much but maybe just because I was not confident enough.
I’m on my first herbal detox which makes me feel tired and with little energy. It’s also not advisable to exercise until your energy levels are back, so, I’m waiting for this to end so, I can resume my routine at home. I read the ME Diet book as well as other materials on being healthy so, I work out at home instead of going to the gym. I take advantage of free barre classes when they’re offered, too.
