I can’t believe that in a few short hours 2014 is over. A year of amazing memories and firsts in the books for our family. Little Dude especially hit an amazing number of milestones in 2014. He learned to sit, crawl, walk, started talking, started daycare, had his first swim class, his first birthday, slept on his own in his crib to name just a few amazing things!
For the rest of us we each had some pretty awesome experiences in 2014. I went to an American blogger conference and spent the most time away from both kids since Little Dude was born. We spent tons of time in cottage country this summer making memories with both of our extended families. Princess Peach went to summer camp for her first time, she’s learning to swim on her own and skate on her own. This year she said goodbye to two pretty big things; her bottle as of Jan 1, 2014 and her pacifier as of a few months ago. She’s in preschool which means that JK is starting in September (wow!).
As great as 2014 has been, the past two weeks have sucked. My entire house for winter break has been sick and those germs are circulating back around. No matter how much we have scrubbed and disinfected we all got hit with a virus and got hit hard. It’s really depressing when you have exciting plans for an entire two weeks period and not one thing goes your way. We have seen more doctors then we have other people and trips to the doctor’s office has been our only trips out of the house! It’s frustrating to say the least and can put the happiest of people into a holiday funk.
So as much as tonight is exciting because it’s New Year’s Eve we are celebrating very differently than we usually would. In years passed we have been out with friends with or without kids. But this year, Little Dude is still sick. Princess Peach is finally feeling better so I had to do something to treat us on New Years Eve. Sure maybe we aren’t out, but we are having a little celebration of our own. After an amazing cheese platter, prior to takeout, I decorated paper lunch bags. I popped a Kinder Surprise inside. It doesn’t seem like much, but to my family a bit of chocolate with a toy inside puts a smile on all of our faces! It really was the perfect little treat to sweeten us a pretty sour end of the year. Most of all Princess Peach had the biggest smile of all so it made it all worth it! Little Dude will get his Kinder Surprise tomorrow as he couldn’t stay up past 6:30pm tonight.
I know I will be staying up until midnight tonight to ring in the New Year with The Hubster. I hope both my kids stay asleep.
From my family to yours, wishing you a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2015.
How cute! Great idea that I am going to steal for next year!
