I have a confession to make. Until two weekends ago, I had not been to Canada’s Wonderland since I was 8! Yes, since I was 8 years old. That means 28 years I had not been there. Holy Cow!
Now you want to know why, right? Well when I was 10 years old, I went to Disney World and went on a roller coaster which scared the living daylights out of me and I haven’t been on a roller coaster ride since. And to be honest, I had no good reason NOT to go to Canada’s Wonderland but stayed away because of my fear. But two weekends ago that all changed when we were invited to check out Camp Spooky, which is Canada’s Wonderland’s Fall Festival that is fun for the entire family. If you haven’t checked it out yet, this weekend is your last chance!
The great thing about going to Canada’s Wonderland when Camp Spooky is on, is that all the rides are open plus there are fabulous extras too like an Enchanted Garden Maze, a Hay Bale Maze and lots of wonderful shows!
The extra-special fun starts upon entering Kidzville or Planet Spooky. Each kid received a trick-or-treating bag, a map of where they can find the treats and they were happy to find candy already in their! The map led us to the different trick-or-treat locations around Kidzville and Planet Snoopy. At each place the map gets marked so you can only visit each spot once. I was really impressed because each stop was generous with their candy and both kids left with a bag full which they were so excited about!
Before our visit I was most excited about the Foam Pit and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint. It was my favourite! Not only did my kids go in it, but so did I!!! I absolutely loved it! It’s a dry foam so it’ll stick to clothes, and they may get a little damp but you won’t get soaking wet. My kids loved chasing me around in the foam. Ask the staff for some paper towel after you are done in the foam pit to wipe it off!
Right beside the foam pit, is a Linus’ pumpkin patch where each kid can pick out their own little pumpkin!
There were different Halloween characters as well as everyone’s favourite Peanut’s characters walking around the park which Princess Peach loved meeting and taking pictures with.
I have great news to share, although I didn’t go on a roller coaster I went on a few rides with my kids which was a lot of fun! Princess Peach and I went on Swan Lake and Little Dude and I went on the Treetop Adventure together. The kids had a blast going on all the rides. And we didn’t have to wait longer than 5 minutes which was incredible!
My one piece of advice when checking out Camp Spooky this weekend is to plan your day around when you and your family will need to eat. The lines tended to be very long the day we went and it took a long time from ordering to getting our food. As long as your plan your day around when you are going to eat and giving yourselves lots of time, no one will get hangry!
Our visit to Camp Spooky was an amazing success! We ended up staying until close because the four of us were having so much fun. The kids are all ready talking about back next year! And, I’m happy to report it will not be another 28 years until I visit next! I can’t wait to take my kids again next year!
