Smart Ones- review

Growing up I always had fresh packed lunches. Usually it consisted of a sandwich (cheese, mustard and lettuce is what I ate almost everyday in high school), fruits and veggies and a granola bar. Dinners were also healthy and homemade by my mom. Living at home ensured that I was eating yummy, delicious and healthy foods.  Then at 25, I left the nest and moved into an apartment with a friend. It was an adjustment at the beginning because not only did I have to cook but cooking for one person was a challenge. So for the first time in my life I started looking into frozen meals. I was looking for healthy and good tasting meals. I wanted something that I could eat for lunch and dinner if I didn’t have food or didn’t want to or feel like cooking. It was trial and error experience.

Then I discovered, Weight Watchers Smart Ones and I’ve been hooked ever since! I love that they are proportioned meals that are easily accessible (from my freezer and from my local grocery stores), are quick to make and taste great! They have a large amount of choices for all three meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner, so your palate will never be bored! I usually pair it with a fruit, a veggie and maybe a treat and I’m all set and very satisfied after lunch!

Personally, my favourite is the Fettuccine Alfredo. The noodles are light, the sauce is creamy and it contains the perfect amount of broccoli. If you are counting Weight Watchers points it is only 6 and have 240 calories, 3.5 grams of fat and 12 grams of protein.

The Hubster loves Smart Ones also. Especially during the school year, our freezer has a great assortment of Smart One meals.  Besides the Fettuccine Alfredo we both really like Three Cheese Ziti Marinara, Santa Fe Style Rice and Beans, Ravioli Florentine, and  Grilled Flatbread Southwestern Style Chicken Fiesta.

I’ve never tried them but will buy some Smart Ones to keep in the freezer for those crazy nights now that after school activities will be starting again. They’ll be perfect for my husband or I if we’re left on our own for dinner.

  4. Love having something so easy to make on hand for those crazy nights. They would be perfect for lunchtime too. That fettuccine alfredo looks delicious!
