Saturday Morning Cartoons

With all the craziness out there in the world don’t you wish you sometimes could rewind the clock and pretend you are 7 on a Saturday morning lying on the couch watching cartoons? Life as an adult is busy, but life with a toddler is just crazy!

Princess Peach doesn’t really watch tv because we got rid of our cable when we moved. Her tv (or YouTube) watching is very limited and chosen by The Hubster or I so she has yet to have a say in what she watches. One of the two “shows” that she watches now are Franklin episodes. She is OBSESSED with Franklin. It’s very cute. Her second “show” is Psy’s Gangnam Style music video on YouTube. It’s quite hilarious to watch her sign for Gangnam style which is her putting her two arms out in front of her, hands together in a fist and bouncing them up and down!

I’m somewhat dreading the days when she is in to a variety of tv shows. Cartoons these days are just not what they use to be. How can Dora The Explorer compete with Jem? Clearly, she just cannot. And I’m so not into all the tv show children’s paraphernalia! I just don’t love these characters enough that they have to be on a jacket, a t-shirt, a sweatshirt, a backpack and shoes all at the same time! Overload!

I think 80’s and 90’s cartoons were the best! There are some of my favourites. Now that it’s getting chilly outside, I wish I could curl up on the couch in my pjs and just watch them. Oh, how those days are long gone but a great memory.

What is your favourite cartoon?

  1. Daniel Tiger’s Neighbourhood is an AMAZING new show. It’s on PBS right now, but it’s coming to Kids CBC in January…it’s a cartoon based around the Neighbourhood of Make-Believe. Daniel even sings a part of Mr. Rogers’ song while putting/taking off his sweater! I love it, and other than the Simpsons, it’s my favourite cartoon right now 🙂

I’m going to look it up!! Thanks for letting me know! I loved Mr.Roger’s as a kid so I’m excited to check it out.

  2. I know what you mean about the 80’s cartoons and your pictures were some of my favorites, too. That said my kids are obsessed with The Fresh Beat Band and Doc McStuffins nowadays, both are actually pretty cute and fairly educational as well.

Janine, I’ve never head of The Fresh Beat Band. I’ve heard of Doc McStuffins but know nothing about the show. I like when tv shoes include educational content! It’s a great way for the little ones to learn something new while relaxing.
